A Reality Show Project Proposed to the Government of Canada
Whether singular or plural, the idea of putting more Canadian — or more Canadians! — into home construction is at the heart of a television show concept developed by Richard Darveau, CEO of the “Well Made Here” program, and submitted this week for consideration to Minister Mélanie Joly.
Two teams of builders, with the same budget and timeline, would compete — in a friendly way! — to build a house using as many Well Made Here-certified hardware items and construction materials as possible.
“This is a way to shine a spotlight on the 225 or so plants that manufacture domestically and to encourage others to join our movement,” says Mr. Darveau.
