CANAC Joins the “WELL MADE HERE” Program to Help Propel Canadian-Made Products
CANAC is joining the efforts of the local product identification movement by becoming a “Retail Partner” of the WELL MADE HERE accreditation program.
Already familiar with this type of commitment as a retail member of the “Les Produits du Québec” certification, CANAC aims to enhance its product identification efforts for the benefit of consumers and entrepreneurs seeking greater clarity on product origins, particularly those of local origin. With thousands of products already in stock that meet the criteria, WELL MADE HERE accreditation ensures credibility and rigor in the selection process.
“We were looking to help customers make informed choices about the origin of their purchases while maintaining a high standard of credibility in product selection. The accreditation promoted by WELL MADE HERE perfectly met this ambition,” explains Martin Gamache, General Manager of CANAC.
Hundreds of products will soon display the accreditation in stores and online, with several thousand more to follow in the longer term. To be considered WELL MADE HERE, suppliers’ products must meet the following three criteria:
- Compliance with codes, regulations, and any other legal requirements of the Canadian construction industry;
- At least 51% of the direct production or manufacturing costs must have been incurred in Canada;
- The final substantial transformation of a product must also have taken place in Canada.
“The arrival of CANAC as one of our partners, a player rapidly expanding in the residential market, proves that our program is gaining momentum. We welcome them with enthusiasm. Now, we must hope that consumers’ and businesses’ appetite for locally made products continues over the long term, beyond the tariff wars,” adds Richard Darveau, President and CEO of WELL MADE HERE.
